"Tanderra Kadu" Sired some fantastic horses here in Western Australia, the Fabulous dressage horse "Kaduso" owned by International Dressage rider Dr.Victoria Hamilton being just one, before he went over East to N.S.W "Follydowns Arabians". T.Kadu produced top endurance horses for Jennie & Tony Thompson of Follydowns, and was then sold on to New Zealand, he was standing at the Stud,"Kimbolton", but sadly passed away November 2006, he was proudly owned by well known endurance riders Gary & Vicki Walker.
A TRIBUTE TO "TANDERRA KADU "
by Sheila Weigall
"Sadly an email just received from New Zealand brought the news that Kadu
died suddenly in November 2006, probably his heart. I bought Kadu as a weanling in 1985 and campaigned him extensively in the
showring from then on. He was a multi Supreme and State Champion under
Australian, NZ and U.S. judges and Gene Reichardt, U.S. judge at the
1991 State Championships, commented in AHN and The West Australian
that “he was an exciting horse and had Arabian type from the tip of his nose
and his beautiful head through a long archy neck to a nice body” and
“he was an outstanding type and would do well throughout the world”. Kadu went on to become a very versatile sire over the years but his influence
was still very strong when in 2005 he was the sire of Perth Royal Show
Supreme Champion Arabian “Shangrala Ibn Sidu” for the second year running.
He sired the Arabian Warmblood “Kaduso” who, at the
2005 State Dressage Championships, won the Intermediare 2, Grand Prix and
Grand Prix Kur to be State Champion ‘Large Tour’ Dressage Horse. His Part Arabian son “My Celebrity” under his EFA name “Albion”,
at 18 years of age, won the Open Puissance Jumping competition with the
big wall at 1.72m at the 2005 Smithbrook Wines Showjumping Festival
as well as finishing 3rd in the Derby. He is also the sire of “Paradise Valley Perfection”,
the Arabian mare who finished third in the Heavyweight section of the 2001 Quilty
held in WA and went on to join the Bremervale Endurance Team.
I sold Kadu in June 1998 to NSW and he was then sold on to NZ in May 2004
where he has 4 colts on the ground and 4 foals expected in 2007, hopefully fillies,
from some absolutely stunning and very successful Arabian endurance mares".
